Certified Level 3 Close Protection Training

Our accredited Level 3 Close Protection course is the foundation for anyone looking to launch or progress a career in the private security sector. Delivered over three intensive weeks by former Special Forces operators and Royal Marines with years of operational experience in hostile environments, the programme combines classroom theory with demanding, hands-on training. Students graduate with the knowledge, confidence, and accredited qualification needed to operate professionally both in the UK and overseas. “We are able to facilitate customised training programmes within the UK, Ireland, and at global locations, depending on the nature of the course selected.

What you’ll learn 

  • Roles & Responsibilities of a Close Protection Officer – industry standards, law, and professional conduct.

  • Threat & Risk Assessment – identifying, evaluating, and reducing risks.

  • Surveillance Awareness & Counter-Surveillance – spotting hostile reconnaissance and applying countermeasures.

  • Operational Planning – advance work, venue security, movement planning, and contingency operations.

  • Conflict Management – de-escalation, communication, and situational awareness.

  • Protective Skills & Drills – escort formations, foot drills, and embus/debus procedures.

  • Vehicle Drills – embarkation/disembarkation, convoy procedures, and protective driving awareness.

  • Use of weapons will be used (Dry Drills only)

  • Reaction to Contact – practical scenarios covering immediate action to hostile threats.

  • Venue & Route Security – effective planning for safe movement and secure environments.

  • Medical Training – trauma care, casualty management, and emergency response.

  • Scenario-Based Training – live exercises testing decision-making, team coordination, and protective skills under pressure.

Course Details 

  • Duration: 21 Days intensive training (full-time)

  • Accreditation: Recognised Level 3 Close Protection qualification (industry standard for SIA licensing) Highfield Certified.

  • Entry Requirements:

    • Must be 18+

    • Good level of English (written and spoken)

    • Basic level of fitness to meet the physical demands of the course

    • No prior experience required, though security or military background is beneficial

Graduates of the course will not only achieve their Level 3 Close Protection qualification but also leave with practical, battle-tested skills that set them apart in the security industry.
